Science and Social Studies are woven into our interdisciplinary themes. Our curriculum team has developed a proprietary Learning Framework of all essential content knowledge & skills across these subjects, which we use to map out our scope of themes.
In Lower School (grades 4-5) and Middle School (grades 6-8), all Next Generation Science Standards are covered through themes like Wild Inventions—where kids learn about organism structure & function to inspire biomimicry inventions—or Food Lab—where kids learn food chemistry & design their own experiments. C3 + National Social Studies Standards are covered through themes like What If?—where kids research a historical event and imagine an alternate history story—or United Nations—where kids research a country and represent their viewpoints in an international debate.
In Prisma High School, all core graduation requirements in Science—Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics—are covered through themes like The Habitable Zone or The Future of Home. Similarly, Social Studies graduation requirements are covered through themes like 2050: Who Rules? (World History) or Propose a Policy (Civics). Additionally, learners who are passionate about these subjects can explore elective credits through Dual Enrollment or AP courses.
