Day-to-Day

How involved do parents need to be?

Your level of involvement will vary depending on the needs of your child. Some children are able to quickly navigate Prisma fully independently. Others need more support, especially at first. We expect parents—together with their child’s coach—to periodically evaluate how much autonomy is right for their child. This is an evolving process, with learners progressing toward greater self-direction as they move through their Prisma journey.

If your learner is a self-starter who can consistently initiate and complete academic work, including writing, independently, you’ll likely spend less than an hour per day supporting them. If your learner needs lots of support getting started on work or struggles to stay on track or write independently, you may need to spend more than two hours. Many learners begin Prisma somewhere in between, and all learners grow their self-management skills with Prisma’s focus on Initiative and Follow Through.
