Because Prisma’s live workshops are highly collaborative and relationship-driven, we don’t typically offer traditional shadow days. However, once your child has completed their application and family interview, we’re happy to explore whether a carefully matched workshop or Expo Day visit would be helpful.
Why don’t you offer traditional shadow days?
We’ve experimented with several ways for prospective families to experience Prisma. What we’ve learned is that a one-time visit rarely gives a child an accurate sense of what it feels like to be a Prisma learner.
That’s because the Prisma experience is deeply personalized and built over time. Learners develop close relationships with their coaches and cohort, and live workshops often build on projects, discussions, and collaborations already underway.
For example, a visiting learner might join a breakout room where three learners have been working together for weeks on a design challenge or preparing for a debate. Without the shared context or relationships, it can feel less like experiencing Prisma and more like stepping into the middle of an ongoing story.
We want every prospective learner’s first experience with Prisma to feel welcoming, relevant, and thoughtfully designed. We also want to protect the focused live time our current learners value with their peers.
For the same reason, we don’t share workshop recordings with prospective families. Child privacy and digital safety are important to us—and deeply appreciated by Prisma parents.
How can my child get a feel for Prisma?
We know choosing a school is a significant decision, and it’s important that both parents and children can picture what the experience will actually be like.
That’s why we’ve created learner-focused resources designed specifically to help kids explore Prisma. Our Inside Look for Kids for grades 4–8, available when you request a recorded overview, includes:
- Clips from live workshops and learner presentations
- Illustrations and visuals
- Examples of real Prisma projects
- A child-friendly look at workshops, coaching, cohorts, and daily life
These resources provide the context a visiting learner would otherwise be missing—and often give children a much clearer and more complete picture of Prisma than a single shadow day could. They’re also available year-round, including when Prismarians are on break.
